Philadelphia police had a busy early morning with one person dead and four people injured in four separate shootings Friday.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- An exceptionally violent night in Philadelphia left one person dead and four people injured in four separate shootings.

The most serious incident happened before 2 a.m. Friday in the 7800 block of Centaur Place in Southwest Philadelphia.

An unidentified man in his 20s was shot five times in the face at point-blank range. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police recovered a weapon underneath the victim.

Witnesses saw a man flee from the scene, and, a short time later, police stopped a man who fit the suspect's description.

Police say he had a gun on him. He is now in custody.

In the East Oak Lane neighborhood, an 18-year-old man was shot in the leg.

That shooting happened after 1 a.m. on the 1400 block of East Price Street.

The victim told police he was walking down the street when he felt pain and noticed he was shot.

Medics took him to Einstein Medical Center in stable condition.

He was not able to give a description of the suspect.

Police found 4 shell casings nearby. They were checking surveillance cameras in the area to see if the incident was recorded.

Around 2:30 a.m. in the Olney section, two people were shot near the intersection of 5th and Rockland streets.

One victim, a 24-year-old man, was shot six times, twice in the back and four times in the legs.

The other victim, a 25-year-old man, was shot twice in the back.

Both were taken by private auto to Einstein Medical Center. The driver left after dropping off the two men.

The victims were able to walk inside. Both are listed in critical, but stable condition.

Police say there was no crime evidence at the location, and they are interviewing the victims.

The last shooting involved a woman in her 30s.

That shooting occurred after 3 a.m. in the 4900 block of Ogden Street in the city's Parkside section.

Police say the woman was walking down the street when she was shot.

She was taken to the hospital in stable condition. The suspect fled the scene.

As with all violent crimes, police are hoping surveillance cameras in the area will provide more information.
