SOUTHWEST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Two people have been injured in a fast-moving house fire in Southwest Philadelphia.

It broke out after 5 a.m. Thursday near the intersection of 54th Street and Springfield Avenue.

Action News is told when firefighters arrived there were flames shooting from the basement.

They were able to rescue two people from the burning home.

A 54-year-old man suffered second degree burns to his face and hands. He is listed in in serious condition.

A 70-year-old man was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

Crews remained at the home as fire investigators worked to determine what sparked the blaze.
