GERMANTOWN (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police are investigating a triple shooting that left one man dead in Germantown.

It happened around 5:35 p.m. Tuesday on the 5500 block of Heiskell Street.

Police say a 37-year-old man was shot to death.

"We believe the homicide victim was at least one of the intended targets," Philadelphia Chief Inspector Scott Small said.

Detectives say there were two gunman firing two separate high caliber semi-automatic weapons, and believe the 37-year-old man was chased into his house.

"We found numerous strike marks inside his property, on the walls, inside the doorway to his property where we found him," Small said.

He was shot multiple times in the chest.

The man and a 29-year-old woman, believed to be his neighbor, were taken to Einstein Medical Center's emergency room.

A third gunshot victim, shot twice in the back, also arrived by private vehicle.

Detectives say right now there's no clear motive, but the violence could be related to a card game taking place in front of the victim's home.

Police say the shooters were wearing dark colored clothing with masks and drove off in a black Dodge.

They are looking at area surveillance video.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
