CHESTER, Pa. (WPVI) -- A police-involved shooting in Chester, Delaware County has left three people in the hospital.

It happened around 2:40 a.m. Sunday on the 500 block of Edgemont Avenue.

Church members prayed outside the Chester police station Sunday afternoon.

In fact, members of the Life in Christ Ministries prayed at 5 locations around the city.

Their goal to bring change to their town.

Tina Robbins of Life in Christ Ministries said, "Were very concerned about not just our children, but our young men. There's a crime wave that's happening so that's why we're out praying."

The church members hit the streets today after a violent night in Chester. One of 3 men police say were shot is close to the church.

"We trust God to give us guidance to know what to do how to pray praying for our mayor and police officers. It's a very difficult city right now."

Investigators say there was a shootout between at least two suspects and officers around 2 a.m. this morning.

There was also a high speed chase that would end with a high speed crash.

Police say it all started at the Gold Room Bar on Edgemont Avenue.

Detectives say officers were monitoring things outside while people were leaving, but an exchange of gun fire would erupt.

One man was shot on the street.

Next, detectives say two men got into a Dodge Durango and fired at the officers responding.

There was brief shoot out and then they took off.

Six blocks later, the suspects crashed into a tree.

When the police approached the vehicle they found both men shot multiple times.

But those you saw praying today were out in the community.

And, also in the New Life Ministries Church, they say despite another setback they'll continue to pray.

Dickie Robbins of New Life in Christ Ministries said, "Chester needs a reason to hope. The things that are going on in these streets, the church cannot be silent about it.

Tina continued, "It's not going to be a negative thing to think about coming to Chester. Chester is going to turn around, we believe it."

The people are hoping for a change.

There were no officers injured during the incidents.

The Delaware County District Attorney's Office is conducting the investigation.
