NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police are searching for a man seen on surveillance video firing shots into a North Philadelphia home as a woman sat inside.

It happened around 12:40 a.m. on Tuesday, September 5 on the 200 block of West Thayer Street.

Surveillance video released by police Monday night shows the suspect armed with a gun exit a vehicle and walk over to the home. He tries to fire the gun at first, but it seems he could not get it to work.

As he walks away, the video shows the suspect seem to figure out how to work the gun and returns to the home where he fires.

The suspect then runs back into the vehicle.

A 33-year-old woman, sitting inside her home, heard three to four gunshots.

When she looked out the window, she noticed the man enter the red car and was last seen north on 3rd Street.

After returning to the living room, the woman noticed that the living room window and wall had two bullet holes in it.

Police say cameras captured the suspect earlier that day prior to the shooting. He was seen talking on a phone.

The suspect is described as a black or Hispanic man with tattoos on his entire upper body.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 215-686-TIPS (8477) or text a tip to PPD TIP or 773847. Police say all tips will be confidential.
