7 children hurt in school bus crash in New Castle, Delaware

NEW CASTLE, Del. (WPVI) -- Seven elementary school students have been taken to an area hospital with minor injuries after a crash involving a school bus in New Castle, Delaware.

It happened after 8 a.m. Thursday at New Castle Avenue (Route 9) and Memorial Drive.

Action News is told the bus was carrying Colonial School District students between the ages of 7 and 10 years old to New Castle Elementary School.

Seven were taken to A.I. duPont Children's Hospital to be treated for injuries described as minor.

The bus driver was also being treated for minor injuries.

There was no immediate word what led to the crash.

The southbound lanes of New Castle Ave were closed at Memorial Drive as police investigated and crews worked to clear the scene.
