This is the second win for West Jersey Volunteers for Animals because of their outstanding work.

Neptune has been looking for his forever home for more that a year.

Volunteer, Iris Brown of WJVA says, "He's my best friend right now (she laughs) and I know there's somebody out there for him and I know we'll find it."

That passion for saving dogs has been a big part of the success at West Jersey Volunteers for Animals.

Michele Houghkirk, Volunteer, WJVA agrees, "There's nothing better than knowing that for usually a stupid reason this animal ended up in a shelter. And then because we helped, this dog is now living an amazing life."

As a foster based group, WJVA not only learns about the dog's personality but can also prepare the pet for a forever home.

"When a potential adopter comes to us and says this is my home situation, we know this animal," said Houghkirk.

West Jersey Volunteers for Animals works closely with Clementon Animal Hospital to treat many of the dogs they rescue who have contracted heart worm.

Dana Fogarty, VMD at Clementon Animal Hospital says, "It can actually kill them and put them into heart failure if it goes untreated."

The pets do very well with the treatment and are soon back to feeling normal again.
