GALVESTON, Texas - Waves crashed into the 61st Street Pier in Galveston, Texas just as Hurricane Harvey was approaching land.
Video posted to Instagram by user fitmeetsfunction shows the waves violently crashing into the side of the pier.
Hurricane Harvey made landfall Friday night 30 miles northeast of Corpus Christi as a Category 4 storm. The storm gradually weakened throughout the night and the National Hurricane Center said that by 5 a.m. Saturday Harvey was downgraded to a Category 1.
