Postal vehicle plunges into icy waters

A postal worker survived an hour-long ordeal in frigid waters this morning.

His truck plunged into the Mingo Creek around 5:15 a.m.

Rescuers spent eventually pulled the 41-year-old driver from the partially submerged truck and got him to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

His injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Investigators are trying to determine why he lost control of the truck.

The vehicle crossed a median near Bartram and Mingo Avenues before winding up in the water.

His name was not released.
