Paul McCartney undergoes heart surgery

LONDON - January 2, 2008 Britain's Sun newspaper says the ex-beatle has undergone a coronary angioplasty after complaining of not feeling well.

The procedure has become fairly routine and involves opening up arteries to allow a greater flow of blood.

The Sun quotes a friend of McCartney as saying that Sir Paul has made a good recovery.

The friend told the Sun that despite his former rock 'n' roll lifestyle, McCartney does regular exercise, eats well, carries no excess weight and generally is in very good shape.

He looked in fine form when he appeared on a televised New Year's special in Britain.
