Reindeer run coming to Anchorage

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - January 4, 2008 – Well, about a dozen reindeer will get a workout next month, when they are let loose on the streets of Anchorage, Alaska. People will be paying 20 bucks a head to run with the reindeer in Anchorage's Fur Rendezvous.

Officials expect they'll be turning people away. The festival is setting a limit of a thousand people total, 500 men and 500 women.

Reindeer rancher Tom Williams is supplying the animals and he's a little worried. But not about the people. Williams says he's concerned a human will do something stupid, like trying to ride a reindeer. Anchorage's first "Running of the Reindeer" is modeled on Spain's annual running of the bulls.
