New class of legislators arrives in Trenton

Today marks the start of a new legislative session in New Jersey and an unprecedented number of freshmen are taking office. Some 16 of the 40 state Senators and 28 of the 80 Assembly members are new to their offices. Change, however, is unlikely because most are no strangers to Trenton.

Seton Hall University acting dean Joseph Marbach says the new faces are actually loyal party members who have worked their way up through the ranks.

November's election did not break the Democratic majority in both houses.

Democratic leadership remains in place.

Senate Republicans will be led by Tom Kean (kayn) Jr.
