No goals, no bonus for US Airways workers

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - January 3, 2008

The Tempe, Arizona-based carrier which has its largest hub at Charlotte Douglas International Airport had offered a "Holiday Hustle" program to reward roughly 36,000 employees. Employees were trying to get 60 percent on-time departures and mishandle fewer than seven out of every 1,000 bags during November and December.

US Airways spokesman Phil Gee said the airline missed both goals. Gee said through December 26th that 58.5 percent of flights departed on time and that employees mishandled 7.43 bags per 1,000.

But the president of the US Airways chapter of the Association of Flight Attendants said the $100 wasn't a big incentive for employees frustrated at the lack of new labor contracts. Mike Flores said it was an "insult" when top executives have made millions of dollars.
