Police were called to an apartment Tuesday evening for a 911 call reporting a stabbing in progress. Ocean County Prosecutor Marlene Lynch Ford says the first officers to arrive found 29-year-old Tesha Lightsey dead of multiple stab wounds.
They also saw 32-year-old Bernard Burgess climb out a second-floor window and jump to the ground. Authorities say he had several self-inflicted stab wounds, and was taken by helicopter to Jersey Shore Medical Center where he was pronounced dead a few hours later.
The prosecutor says Lightsey obtained a restraining order against Burgess last Thursday ordering him to stay away from her.
