Chester police and three suspects exchanged gunfire this afternoon.

According to authorities, police started following a car that they believed was involved in an earlier shooting.

That car then hit another car at 6th and Wilson Streets.

The officers who were following the suspects then exchanged gunfire with the suspects.

The suspects' car came to a stop at 7th and Wilson Streets, where police opened fire again striking all three people in the car, officials said.

All three were transported to Crozer Chester Medical Center. Their conditions were not immediately known.

Police said they found three automatic weapons found in the suspects' car.
