Charlotte beats Temple, 60-58

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - January 12, 2008 The 49ers (10-5) blew a 17-point first-half lead as the Owls (6-8) rallied to take a 55-52 lead with under 2 minutes to play in their Atlantic 10 conference opener.

But Goldwire, limited to six points in the first half because of foul trouble, scored Charlotte's last 11 points, including a pair of 3-pointers that tied the game at 55 and 58.

Goldwire drew an off-the-ball foul on Luis Guzman to lead to his game-winning free throws.

Tied at 8 at the 15:01 mark of the first half, Charlotte went on a 21-5 run during the next nine minutes and led 29-13 with just under 6 minutes to play. The 49ers shot 9-for-16 from the floor during the run, while the Owls missed nine of 11 shots.

The lead got to 33-16 before Temple closed the first half with eight straight points.

Lamont Mack tied a career high with 18 points for Charlotte. Mark Tyndale had 17 points and Dionte Christmas had 13 for Temple.
