State police say a man from Bear died early today after his truck crashed head-on into a tree.

It happened around 12:45 a.m. on Old Mill Road just east of Coastal Highway.

Police say 44-year-old Thomas Street was traveling east at an alleged high rate of speed, when his truck veered left, went off the road and into a tree. Thomas was not wearing a seat belt and sustained massive head trauma.

He was transported to Beebe Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.

Police say it's not yet known if alcohol was a factor in the crash and the case remains under investigation.
