The body of a Petaluma woman washed ashore on the Sonoma County coast, three days after she was knocked down by a wave and swept away when she and her fiance tried to get their dogs out of the water.

The body of 19-year-old Ann Madden of Petaluma was found by a sheriff's deputy about 200 yards from where she disappeared.

Madden and 24-year-old Grant Korte tried to rescue the dogs after they were hit by waves near Bodega Bay. Korte and the dogs made it out of the water, but Madden did not.

Madden was a 2006 graduate of Wilson High School in West Lawn, Pa.
