School district debates streaker's fate

ALLENTOWN, Pa. (AP) - January 16, 2008

The 16-year-old junior dashed through the gym during a basketball game wearing only a sock to cover part of himself. Classmates raised money to pay his $300 disorderly conduct fine. But he is now commuting to a private school in Weissport.

Those questioning the school board Tuesday included parent Roxane Guzie. She asked why the student had to leave when she said others who have committed assault or theft have been allowed to stay in school.

Superintendent Louise Donohue said rules bar discussing specifics of disciplinary matters. She said administrators consider "the whole student," including grades and past problems.

The transferred student says he considers the penalty unfair, but says he will "be a man and do my punishment."
