Mrs. Fixit: Coffee Talk

January 20, 2008

Use your leftover coffee to scrub the residue from greasy, grimy pans, pour a cup or so of coffee on the grime and then use a soapy cloth to scour the surface. The coffee will break up the grease and clean it away!

Use your coffee grounds to deodorize your fridge and freezer. Put the grounds in a plastic container, punch holes in the top and pop one in the fridge and one in the freezer. They'll absorb odors so they don't linger.

Before you scoop the ashes from your fireplace, sprinkle damp coffee grounds over them, they'll weigh down the ashes and keep dust to a minimum.

If your black clothes are looking faded, brew a full pot of coffee. Put your black clothes in the washing machine, followed by the pot of coffee. Then run the clothes through a cycle with no soap. The coffee will infuse the color back into your darks.

Just before the rinse cycle starts, add a cup of white vinegar to the cycle, this will set the color and remove any coffee residue from the machine all in one quick step!

Now that's what I call a caffeine fix. I'm Mrs. Fixit and it's just that simple.
