Your next car could be missing something

DETROIT (AP) - January 17, 2008 Ford is showing off the 2009 F-150 pickup at the Detroit auto show -- sans cap. The company is making good on a promise to eventually get rid of the pesky gas caps on its entire line. Ford engineer Matt O'Leary says everyone who drives hates gas caps. Ford is building on its NASCAR racing experience with the new capless system. A spring-loaded flap inside the filler tube automatically retracts when the gas nozzle is inserted.
