MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - January 17, 2008 -
Huckabee, campaigning today in Myrtle Beach ahead of Saturday's
primary, said the government should stay out of disputes involving
the flag. He added that if somebody came to Arkansas and told
people what to do with their flag, "we'd tell 'em what to do with
the pole."
However, the former Arkansas governor isn't saying whether he
considers it offensive to fly the flag, which is viewed as a symbol
of racism by some and Southern pride by others.
Huckabee is campaigning with former South Carolina Governor
David Beasley, who angered conservative Republicans by calling for
the flag's removal from the statehouse dome.
