Threat leads to lockdown at Cheney U.

January 24, 2008

Students received an urgent text message alert early this afternoon.

Action News has learned a disgruntled graduate student threatened to shoot up the campus reportedly because his transcript was being denied.

Students told us while the threat of violence is worrisome, they are happy about how Cheney University officials handled the incident.

After the Virginia Tech massacre and other outbreaks of violence across the country, officials at Cheney say even the slightest threat of danger is taken serious.

The lockdown ended late this afternoon. It was not immediately known if anyone was arrested.
