The current cast includes Zonya Love as Celie, Walker's determined heroine, as well as Grammy winners Chaka Khan and BeBe Winans and "American Idol" finalist LaKisha Jones. The $11 million musical, which opened in December 2005, recouped its investment in less than year for the show's producers, who include Oprah Winfrey and Quincy Jones. A touring company, starring LaToya London of "American Idol" and Michelle Williams of Destiny's Child, is currently playing Los Angeles. The tour is scheduled through 2009.
