Not guilty pleas in Kutztown murder case

READING, Pa. - January 24, 2008 - Twenty-three-year-old Timothy Gearhart; 22-year-old Terry Kline, and his 21-year-old brother, Kenneth Kline, and arraigned Thursday on charges of first- and third-degree murder, aggravated assault and conspiracy. All three pleaded not guilty.

The three are accused of beating Kyle Quinn, a 19-year-old sophomore from Warminster, on Main Street in Kutztown, a few blocks from campus, on Sept. 7. Quinn died at Lehigh Valley Hospital of blunt force trauma to the head.

Assistant District Attorneys Jonathan Kurland and James Goldsmith said there are no aggravating circumstances to warrant seeking the death penalty against the defendants.
