State to seize wedding photographer's photos, video

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - January 25, 2008

The order bars photographers, videographers and album manufacturers who did work for Celebration Studios and its owner, Marc C. Schwartz, from transferring or disposing of the items.

"It means they can't go out and resell them or dispose of them," said Attorney General Anne Milgram. "All the photos and videos taken are protected and hopefully we'll have access to them very soon and we'll be able to get them back to the couples."

The state's Division of Consumer Affairs sued the firm and Schwartz last week, claiming they violated consumer fraud and advertising regulations.

Nearly 850 customers claim the Chester-based company left them without items they paid for or failed to provide refunds.

Milgram said the state wants to get photos and videos back to consumers and also refund money to couples whose deposits were taken for weddings and never received the services for which they contracted.
