Police are now saying that a fatal Cumberland County fire is a case of arson and murder. The fire broke out in the 700 block of Morgan Street in Rosenhayn on the morning of Friday, January 25th. 42-year-old resident Sonya Mullins was inside at the time of the fire, and died as a result of the blaze.

After performing an autopsy, the Assistant State Medical Examiner concluded that Mullins' cause of death was due to asphyxia with blunt trauma to head and chest. The manner of death was then ruled a homicide.

Early Sunday morning 40-year-old Donnell Logan was arrested and charged with murder, felony murder arson, aggravated assault, tampering with evidence, and burglary. He was processed and is being held at the Cumberland County Jail on $250,000 bail.

Logan was Mullins' live-in boyfriend until the relationship was severed a couple of days prior to the fire. He was staying with a friend in Bridgeton since the breakup.

The investigation is ongoing.
