A crash in West Kensington prompted an evacuation due to a damaged gas gauge. It happened just before 7 a.m. along the 100 block of West Glenwood Avenue between Mascher and Palthorpe Streets.

According to PGW, after a precautionary evacuation of the surrounding neighborhood, residents were allowed to return at 7:23.

The impact ripped the rear axel off the vehicle. The driver of the car was taken to Temple University Hospital. Their condition is unknown.

The vehicle hit a high pressure main gauge, not a gas line as previously reported. Therefore there was no interruption of gas service in the area.
