Britt Reid to be paroled

February 1, 2008 A judge sentenced Britt Reid to drug treatment on drunk driving and drug charges.

Reid, 22, pleaded guilty last month to driving under the influence of a controlled substance over the summer.

The son of Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid will likely be paroled on Monday. He must also enter a drug treatment center in Montgomery County. Reid will be drug tested four times a week.

Reid told the judge that he is a young man who made bad choices.

Judge Steven O'Neill at an earlier sentencing had reprimanded Reid's parents, but today he said, "I had no right to bring them (your parents) into it. This lies squarely on your shoulders and on your brother's shoulders. I in no way hold your parents responsible. The two of you created a drug emporium in that house."

Under the drug program, Reid must show up in court once a week, Senior Deputy Attorney General E. Marc Costanzo said. He also must continue to hold down a job.

Britt Reid pleaded guilty Jan. 17 to DUI and drug charges filed when he drove into a shopping cart in a parking lot in August while out on bail on a road rage charge. He has since been sentenced to eight to 23 months in prison in the road rage case, in which he flashed a gun at another motorist.
