Austrian television pronounced the "Desperate Housewives" star the most impressive guest at Thursday night's opulent Vienna Opera Ball, whose other celebrity guests included opera diva Anna Netrebko and retro fashion muse Dita Von Teese. "Hatcher outshone everyone in her simple dress with little decoration and her understated makeup," said public television ORF, which broadcast the ball live. "She impressed with her simplicity."
"I love the Opera Ball," Hatcher said at the ball, which is held annually in the downtown Vienna State Opera house.
Austrian media had focused for days on Von Teese, whose real name is Heather Sweet, the former wife of goth rocker Marilyn Manson. But Hatcher's surprise visit brought "a touch of Hollywood" to the ball, ORF said Friday.
