Police say a trooper responding to a home security alarm Sunday at a home in Georgetown heard a gunshot behind the garage. He found a man with a gunshot wound to the head and the body of a woman in the passenger seat of a car inside the garage. A shotgun was recovered at the scene.
Police say 55-year-old George Gilliland of Stowe, Pa., died after he shot himself in the head. They say his wife, 56-year-old Carole Ann Gilliland, suffered from blunt force traumatic injuries, but they are still investigating exactly when, where and how she died.
The district attorney's office in Montgomery County, Pa., is assisting with the investigation.
