Bandits target Game Stops

February 4, 2008

A Game Spot in Gloucester Township's Cherry Wood shopping center was robbed at gunpoint last Thursday, January 31st at 1:15 in the afternoon.

The armed robbery was the fourth in less than a month in the area. The first was on January 5th at the Game Stop on Route 38 in Cherry Hill. That robbery happened at 9:20 p.m.

On January 10th, two men struck the store on Route 70 in Evesham Township at 8:30 p.m.

On Janaury 22nd, the Game Stop on Route 130 in Delran was hit at 7:00 p.m. The Evesham police had enough information to issue a composite sketch of one of the men.

Police believe the pair may be responsible for all four armed robberies. So far no employees or patrons have been injured, but police say the potential for harm is present.

The security systems in the stores were either damaged by the criminals or stolen, according to one of the police departments. In some cases, though, police are looking at surveillance video from other shopping center cameras. They're hoping to catch the pair before someone gets hurt.
