Aging bridges being replaced

PENNSAUKEN, N.J. - February 5, 2008 Preliminary work is already underway. Sixteen thousand drivers a day will need to take detours.

Authorities expecting additional traffic have pledged additional police to keep things moving. Business owners concerned about customers finding them are cautiously optimistic.

The detour routes are as follows:

Chapel Avenue Detours
Traffic traveling southeast will turn right onto Hampton Road and proceed south along Hampton Avenue to Route 38. The detour will continue east along Route 38 back to Chapel Avenue.

Traffic traveling northwest will turn left onto Route 38, proceed south along Route 38 to Hampton Avenue, turn right onto Hampton Avenue and proceed to Chapel Avenue.

This detour is scheduled to be in place for approximately 10 months.

Maple Avenue Detours
Eastbound traffic will turn right onto Church Road, proceed southeast along Church Road to Haddonfield Road, and take Haddonfield Road back to Maple Avenue.

Westbound traffic will make a left onto Haddonfield Road, proceed southwest along Haddonfield Road to Church Road, and take Church Road back to Maple Avenue.

This detour is scheduled to be in place for approximately 12 months.
