The strike, which began Jan. 29, had canceled for nearly 12,000 students. It was the first strike in the district since 1980. The two sides met for eight hours last Sunday. The school board said after that meeting that "significant progress" was made, but the two sides differed on whether teachers should be compensated for the days they have been out on strike.
