Add a capful of hydrogen peroxide and a tablespoon of sugar to a vase of tepid water. The peroxide will kill bacteria and the sugar acts as a food source to keep those blooms happy.
Keep the water level high in the vase to keep the flowers fed and fresh. If you need to add additional water, peroxide and sugar mix to the vase, try a turkey baster for a no mess no drip solution.
If you cut your flowerfs too short for your vase, no problem. Just add some marbles, decorative stones or even some shells to the bottom of the vase to raise the flowers up.
Or if one of the blooms breaks off at the head, cut the stem off completely and float the flower in a pretty dish.
Keep your flowers away from fruits and vegetables. They give off a gas that will kill off those flowers quickly.
Also make sure to keep those blooms in even temperatures. No extremes of heat and cold.
Happy valentines day! I'm Mrs. Fixit and it's just that simple!
