Teacher arrested as one of Philly's most wanted

February 13, 2008 He was teaching at a North Philadelphia high school for troubled students.

Thirty-three-year-old Arnesx Honore was arrested yesterday on sex assault charges involving a minor.

He is on the list of philadelphia's 150 most wanted criminals. Police say he raped a teenage girl over the course of three years.

Honore has been teaching math to eighth grade boys at the Hunting Park alternative school in North Philadelphia since 2003.

He was originally charged in connection with the crime back in 2006, but the charges were dropped. The district attorney's office is pursuing the case again.

Honore is charged with rape, sexual abuse and related offenses.

His bail is set at $20,000, and he has been ordered to stay away from the victim.

A preliminary court date is set for February 20th.

Honore was hired by a contractor for the Philadelphia School District. Community Education Partners or CEP did annual background checks of county, state and federal databases.

Police sources say Honore's name probably did not come up during a criminal background check because he was never convicted in connection with the alleged crime and a new warrant was only issued recently.

Hunting Park is located at Front and Hunting Park Avenue. The school serves 1,200 students with disciplinary problems.
