Drexel went on a 20-2 run in the first half and took a 25-7 lead, their biggest of the game, on Elegar's free throw with 9:24 remaining in the period. The Dragons hit nine of their first 12 field goal attempts and shot 52 percent from the field for the half to take a 37-24 lead at the break.
Drexel held a double-digit lead for most of the second half despite going without a field goal for a 5:15 stretch midway through the period. Tony Durant's layup brought Towson to 37-28 with 18:38 remaining. Towson shot 27 percent from the field, made only one of nine 3-point attempts and shot 56 percent from the free throw line in the second half.
