Man shot to death inside take out restaurant

WEST KENSINGTON - February 11, 2008

The shooting happened inside the restaurant at 6:30 p.m.

"He was inside the premises. I don't know if he was buying food or about to buy food," said Chief Inspector Scott Small.

Police described the victim as a 37-year-old Hispanic man. He was shot twice in his chest and later died at Temple Hospital.

Alesha Poindexter has been raising her four children in this area for the last eight years. She says during the last few months this corner had been relatively quiet crime-wise, but it recently returned to being a dangerous place. She no longer picks up food at the restaurant.

"They are drug dealing there all day, all day long. Cops are here every day," she said.

Police are investigating this homicide as possibly drug-related.

They're hoping an eyewitness and two employees inside the restaurant at the time will help them identify the killer.

"Right now, the information we have is he is a male wearing a dark-colored jacket and jeans. We're not sure of he's White, Black or Hispanic," said Small.
