Search for missing hunters resumes

FAIRFIELD TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - February 12, 2008 Authorities said Tuesday that an autopsy of the third man, Jan Toryfter, of Lawrence Township, whose body was found Sunday, showed he died of exposure.

Still missing are Jozef Karamuz, 69, an emergency room doctor from Huntingdon Valley, Pa., and Zdzislaw "Jerry" Piorkowski, 59, who owns a travel agency in Philadelphia.

State Police Sgt. Stephen Jones said the search resumed Tuesday morning in the shallow waters near where the body of Jan Toryfter was found Sunday night.

The three men were reported missing Sunday afternoon. An overturned boat and some hunting gear was found in Fairfield Township on land, near the water's edge.

Authorities have said that it does not appear the three men intended to stay out overnight.

The U.S. Coast Guard suspended its search Monday night, but the New Jersey State Police continued looking Tuesday.
