NJ Transit to roll out new buses

NEWARK, N.J. -February 13, 2008 New buses will offer more leg room, wider doors and automatic announcements that will display and say when a stop is imminent.

The first 229 buses will hit the roads in late June or early July.

All 1,145 new buses are expected to be in place over the next six years.

The new fleet will be accessible for customers with disabilities and contain three security cameras, whose tapes can be downloaded and watched.

Suburban buses will feature reading lights and climate control devices above the seats.
