A Mount Vernon man proposed to his girlfriend in front of a crowd of more than 2,500 during a performance of the Royal Hanneford Circus at the Westchester County Center.
Anthony DeBenedictis got down on one knee in front of girlfriend Lauren Proto on Sunday, with a circus clown helpfully holding up a sign - upside down - that read, "Lauren, will you marry me?"
Proto said yes. The proposal was the first at the circus.
