School bus crash in CA, children injured

CHINO, Calif. (AP) - February 19, 2008 The accident occurred shortly after 7:30 a.m. at an intersection, authorities said. The bus, chartered by a local Head Start program, collided with a car and veered off the street, hitting a planter and several cars in a parking lot, authorities said. All of the children were in car seats at the time of the crash.

All of the injuries were minor, but the victims were taken to hospitals as a precaution, said Inspector Ryan Dacko of the Chino Valley Independent Fire District.

"We're talking bumps and bruises," Dacko said. "It doesn't sound too serious."

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
