It's called cannon beach for a reason
CANNON BEACH, Ore. (AP) - February 20, 2008 Two cannons were found on the Oregon Coast over the
holiday weekend near Cannon Beach. Experts believe the cannons are
from a ship that ran aground in 1846. The first cannon was found in
1898 and is gave the beach its name. The weekend's first cannon was
spotted by a man and his daughter, who thought it might be a tree
stump. That was until the girl noticed it was rusty. A state park
official found the second cannon, while investigating the first
find. Experts will handle the cannons' removal.
