Unindicted Duke lacrosse players sue school
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - February 21, 2008 Attorneys are filing the federal lawsuit Thursday in North
Carolina.
The 38 players involved in the lawsuit weren't indicted in the
case. But they accuse the university, the city of Durham and others
of fraud, abuse, and breach of duty for supporting the prosecution
of the case.
Former District Attorney Mike Nifong led the prosecution against
three players on rape charges, but state prosecutors later cleared
the men of any wrongdoing. He was later disbarred and resigned from
office.
