Former A.C. Mayor wants his job back

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) - February 23, 2008 Lorenzo Langford said he plans to run in the city's June 3 Democratic primary in an attempt to recapture the office he held from 2002 to 2005.

He'll face incumbent Scott Evans, who took over in October for scandal-plagued Mayor Robert Levy.

The winner of the Democratic primary will face an undetermined Republican challenger in November in an election that will determine who serves the final year of Levy's term.

Langford's no stranger to political controversy.

He was barred from public office for 18 months after he admitted in March 2006 that he used his office to endorse a city council candidate, in violation of federal rules.
