If you need to zest citrus fruit pop it in the freezer for a half hour, it is easier to work with and you'll get more zest.

Shredding cheese? Pop it in the freezer a bit before starting. The cheese will be much more managable and as a bonus less will stick to your grater. This tip also works for chocolate!

If you need to grind up raisins or dates for a recipe, stick them in the freezer while you get the rest of the ingredients together. They'll be less gummy and therefore grind much better.

Pop an onion in the freezer a bit before you have to cut it, not only is it easier to slice but you'll have less tears too!

Need super thin slices of meat for a recipe? Start from frozen. The frozen meat is easier to slice through and it's easier to control the thickness of those slices!
