Entrance fees planned for state parks

DOVER, Del. - February 28, 2008

The state's Division of Parks and Recreation has now begun charging the fees earlier than in previous years.

Fees will now be charged from March 1 to November 30. Previously the state charged fees from May 1 to October 31.

The fees are being charged because more visitors are coming in the early spring and late fall. Officials say the revenue is needed to cover operating costs.

Fees are $3 for all parks except for ocean parks which cost $4.

An annual pass is $27 for in-state residents and $54 for out-of-state residents.
