Tyndale had 13 of his 15 points in the second half, hitting all six of his shots, while Semaj Inge and Dionte Christmas each had 10 points for Temple (16-12, 9-5 Atlantic 10).
Pat Calathes had 14 points and Ahmad Nivins had 11 for Saint Joseph's (17-10, 8-6), which had won five straight over the Owls including a 68-67 victory at Temple on Jan. 26.
The Hawks led 43-29 five minutes into the second half and 52-40 with 9:44 left to play. Temple then ran off 11 unanswered points while the Hawks missed nine straight shots as the Owls closed to 52-51.
Calathes hit a 10-footer with 1:36 to play to give Saint Joseph's a 56-53 advantage before Tyndale hit a layup 12 seconds later and then made his game-winning shot. Saint Joseph's had three shot attempts in the last 10 seconds but could not score.
The Hawks, who lead the conference in 3-point shooting at 40 percent, made only two of 16 shots from beyond the arc in the game.
