Wind, rain, and destruction

March 5, 2008 In Westville, New Jersey, a gigantic tree crashed down in Doug Bozarth's yard. It demolished his deck, took siding off his home, and damaged the roof.

In Gilbertsville, Montgomery County, the problem wasn't so much the water as it was the winds.

The damaged ranged from a garage on Congo Road all but leveled, a roof being ripped off and landing on the front lawn, to a barn reduced to rubble.

In Tamaqua, heavy rains led to the partial collapse of Catawissa Road, where a sinkhole devoured a 30-foot tree.

Down in Allentown, the waterways are teetering right around flood stage, so the big concern is the precipitation forecasted for the end of the week.

Thomas Nervine, the Lehigh County's Emergency Services Director, says when you consider how rainy and snowy it's been up here over the past few months, the Lehigh Valley has done surprisingly well.
