Dennis James Laslo pleaded guilty to abuse of a corpse and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
Laslo, 46, was arrested in July after allegedly trying to steal a woman's purse at a North Whitehall Township supermarket. Police found the body of Maynard S. Anthony, 50, inside the truck.
Prosecutors said Laslo told police he pushed the decomposing body aside in the vehicle and just started driving around. The truck belonged to Anthony; authorities said the two men knew each other.
Laslo said in court Wednesday that he had become morally bankrupt and "was like a hollowed-out tree stump."
